Salvaging Obsidian Armor... - Guild Wars Forums

Does anybody know what the chances are of getting ecto or shards out of this and how many? If I decided to, would I have to use a regular salvage kit since the pieces are already runed? (or can I remove runes?)

If you use a normal salvage kit you'll get only normal crafting materials like ingots or cloth as normal salvage kits wont produce rare materials
If you used an expert or superior kit you might get a rare material but i really dont know, but i do know that if a rune is attached an expert kit will salvage only the rune

I had the unfortunate requirement of salvaging obsid gloves and boots from the necro on my second account that i got rid of 6 months ago. I had no runes on the gear and got 11 ectos from it. A guild mate tried the same on his, he had runes already on it, and all he got was the runes.

^ that hurts.... but i heard that in Nigh fall you will be avle to choose WHAT to salvage out of a weapon, maby this will also be applyable to salvaging armor?

No way! I heard there were new salvage options but didnt't know this is what it was

There has to be some downside to it somewhere, surely?

You got 11 ectos from just the boots and the gloves? That's better than I expected

Maybe I'll wait to see what Nightfall has to offer in terms of salvage control.

What are you trying to say, hat we can only store materials from Factions? The new salvage system will probably be only for those of us that buy Nightfall, but we will be able to use it on any item.

Don't count on being able to selectively salvage anything other than Nightfall items. It may be backwards applicable, but I really doubt it.

and it wouldnt make sence to be able to do so only to NF items. im sure its probably gonna be some special salvage kit or a NPC availble in NF only

it said mod salvage choice and guaranteed.

please tell me the difference between a *FIERY AXE HAFT* picked up in either chapter one or Factions or presumably Nightfall as well.

well ok it is identical but we will only guarantee it if it comes from Nightfall.............right.

this is listed as a global change to the *SALVAGE SYSTEM* not a chapter only tweek

Yeah tell me about it. I have an entire mule completely full of crap 15^50 items that i spent all of 5k each. I also have a mule with nothing but Gold Req 8 Rare Skins like Crystallines, Dwarvens, Brutes, Serpents, Fellblades, and the like. If you were wondering where they were all going I am it.
